Voices of Faith South Leadership

Voices of Faith South is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

James T. Murkison

Senior Pastor

James T. Murkison pastors Voices of Faith South in Hampton, Georgia. An anointed preacher and teacher, Pastor Murkison’s approach to biblical theology has touched the lives of many people of all ages. God uses his creative gift of illustration to bring to life a message of hope, love and forgiveness that will captivate any audience. This modern day Elisha walks in a spirit of excellence, humility and integrity before God and man.

In October 2001, he was appointed chairman of the Men of Voices Men’s Ministry at Voices of Faith Ministries in Stone Mountain GA and served faithfully in this capacity for 5 years. In December 2001, he was selected as an officer of the Deacon Board. Pastor Murkison answered the calling of the Lord and was licensed by Bishop Gary Hawkins of Voices of Faith Ministries to preach in March 2003. In January, 2004 he was ordained as an Elder of Voices of Faith. He has served in leadership in several other auxiliaries including director of the Gatekeepers. For seven years, he served as Bishop Hawkins’ Armor Bearer. With this calling, Pastor Murkison taught from his personal experience as an Armor Bearer locally and abroad. In the summer of 2007, God’s call for him to one day shepherd a flock came true. He was selected to pastor, Voices of Faith South, the first church to be planted by Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr. Pastor James Murkison, and his wife, Lady Val are the proud parents of two children, Ashley and Myles.

Pastor Murkison attended Morehouse College in pursuit of a degree in the School of Arts. He later received his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from National-Louis University. Before entering ministry full time, he worked as a Systems Analyst and Operations Supervisor for several global and regional corporations such as Siemens Energy and Automation, Drug Transport Incorporation and Equifax to name a few.

Lady Val Murkison

Minister of Ministry Administration



Lady Valerie Murkison has served faithfully along with her husband, Pastor James T Murkison of Voices of Faith South in Hampton, GA for the last 11 years. Lady Murkison, who has worked in ministry in several capacities for some 15 years, demonstrates her willingness to do whatever it takes in ministry. Her approach is an inspiration to women of all ages. Her passion to help expand the kingdom of God can be seen through such community-oriented events like the annual Community “Free” Flea Market, the annual Back-to-School Family Fun Day, and Thanksgiving Family Food Drive. Lady Murkison’s heart to give drives her because she “loves to see the needs of people being met”. Lady Val was licensed to preach the gospel and ordained as an elder on December 11th, 2016. When talking to Lady Murkison you will be sure to hear a question that is central to her passion and drive which is “have you done or are you doing what GOD has called you to do?” Lady Valerie has a Bachelor’s Degree from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Valerie Murkison, with her husband of 25 years, Pastor James Murkison, are the proud parents of two children, Ashley and Myles.
